Lela M. Wong, a retired school teacher, passed away on Wed, Mar 1st, at her home with her family by her side.  Lela was born in Burlington VT in 1927, the daughter of Harry and Hu She Ming.  While growing up she lived in Burlington, Boston, and Biddeford Maine. She graduated from Brighton High School with the Class of 1946.  After high school she became the first of her family to enroll in college, something she was very proud of.  She attended Emmanuel College where she earned her BS in Business, and then continued on to get her Certificate in Education.  She became a  teacher in the  City of Malden, and then taught English as a Second Language and Computer Science for the City of Boston,  at Hubert Humphrey High School.  Outside  of being a teacher, Lela was a quiet, stay at home type of person who enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, of Christina M. Wong-Dong and husband Kenneth Dong of Newton, and Kevin M. Wong and wife Shirley R. of PA, her brother Edward T. Ming of CA, Harry T. Ming of Boston, and her grandchildren, Daniel, Christopher, Michael, David, Erica, and Matthew.

Lela was preceded in death by her husband Anthony,  and her siblings, Memi Chin, Minnie Feng, William T. Ming, Frank T. Ming, Arthur T. Ming, and Lillian Moy.

A Mass of Christian Burial  will be held at Sacred Hearts Church, 1317 Centre Street, Newton, MA, on  Wednesday, March 8th, at 10:30, with visitation from 9:30 - 10:30.   Interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Boston.
