Margaret (Cuscuna) Whitehouse

1924 - 2017

Margaret (Cuscuna) Whitehouse, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. Margaret was born in Malden in 1924, the daughter of Salvator and Olimpia Cuscuna. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1941. She went on to work at the WR Grace and Company in Malden, first as a secretary and then as a cost accountant. She later went to work for the IRS, retiring in 1995.

In 1952, she married her sweetheart, Frederick Whitehouse, in Tewksbury. The two first settled down in Tewksbury, and she lived there while Fred served overseas in the Air Force. In 1963, with Fred returned from his tour of duty, they relocated to Malden where they raised their 2 children. Margaret and Fred shared 55 years of marriage together, until his passing in 2007. Margaret was a proud, independent person, and outside of work she really enjoyed settling down with a good book.

She is survived by her loving children, Debra A Whitehouse of San Anselmo, CA, Joseph J. Whitehouse and wife Sylvia of Malden, her step daughter, Rhonda Patterson of SC, and her cherished grandchildren, Dustin, Eli, Axel, and Sarah.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband Frederick, and her siblings, Joseph Cuscuna, Annete Busook, and Susan Capone.

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem ST, Malden, on Thursday, June 1, at 1 PM, with visitation held from 11-1. Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: The St. Francis House, 39 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116.
