Vivian V. (Cameron) White of Melrose
passed away early Monday morning June 17, 2019 with her loving
family at her side, she was 88. Vivian was the loving daughter
of the late Hugh & Amy L. (Weakford) Cameron. She was born in
Everett, MA on February 11, 1931. She was one of the five girls
and two boys born into the family.
After her schooling Vivian would later meet and marry the
love of her life John Albert White. The couple were married in
the Wilmington Methodist Church on February 16, 1952 and were
married for 41 years until John’s passing in June of 1993. The
couple lived in Wilmington later moving to Medford, Malden and
Vivian later moved to Melrose. Vivian worked for over ten years
as a bookkeeper for a Boston Law Firm, but would continue her
working career up until her 80’s. Vivian was a longtime member
of the Centre United Methodist Church in Malden. After its
closing she became a member of the First United Methodist Church
of Melrose. Vivian was an active member and belonged to the
Quilting Guild of both churches.
Vivian is survived by her devoted children, Gail M. James of North
Berwick, Maine and her son Lawrence J. White and his wife Jody
L. White of Eliot, Maine. Vivian is the cherished grandmother of
five grandchildren & five great-grandchildren.
Vivian was predeceased by her husband John A. White, her parents
Hugh & Amy L. Cameron and her daughter Ronelle White and her
son-in-law Michael James.
Funeral services will be held from the First United Methodist
Church of Melrose, 645 Main St., Melrose, on Wednesday, June 26,
2019 at 10AM. Interment will follow in the Forest Dale Cemetery,
Malden. At the family’s request, visiting hours have been
omitted. Vivian’s funeral arrangements are under the care of the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden,
