 Derrek Forest P. West


Derrek Forest P. West, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away suddenly at the age of 28, in his home in Malden. Derrek was born in 1988, the son of Philip M. and Sherrill A. (O’Neill) West, and was raised in Malden. After completing his education, he became an Ironworker, and was a member of Ironworker’s Local #7. More recently Derrek had been working as a welder. Derrek enjoyed hockey and boxing, and had a vast reservoir of obscure facts. He was very loyal to, and protective of his family.

He is survived by his parents, Philip M. and Sherrill A. (O’Neill) West of Malden, his sister, Nicole M. West of Medford, his brothers, Philip M. “P.J.” West Jr of the Japan Marine Corps Base, Okinawa, Tylor O. West of Malden, his grandmothers, Catherine M. “Kay” West of Malden and Trudi Papoutsis of Malden, as well as many loving cousins, and of course his beloved dog Tucker.

Derrek was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Forest J. West and James P. O’Neill.
Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Friday, December 9th, at 8:45 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to Follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thurs, Dec 8th, from 4-8 PM.
