Earle G. Voigt

1930- 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Earle Gene Voigt announces his passing on February 2, 2019 at the age of 88, due to complications related to Congestive Heart Failure. Earle was born on April 5, 1930 and was raised in Malden, MA.

He graduated from Malden High School in 1948. Upon graduation he went to work at GE in Everett as a Jet Engine machinist. In 1951, Earle became an active service member of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany. During the Korean War he received the Army Occupation Medal. After returning from the service, Earle went back to GE where he worked for almost 40 years.

Earle married Margaret “Peg” Scott in 1955 at St Paul’s Church in Malden. They were married for almost 58 years, until Peg’s sudden passing. During this time Earle & Peg raised 3 children, Andrea, Bruce, & Cheryl and made many loving family memories. After Peg’s passing, Earle was lucky to find a loving companion in Elvira Carlson. Not only did Elvira always keep a smile on Earle’s face she also kept his belly full with her wonderful cooking.

Throughout his life, Earle enjoyed spending time at the family Cottage on Great East Lake in Wakefield, NH. He loved spending time down by the water, loved boating, fishing and even taught himself to swim! He spent every summer & fall at the lake with Peg and the kids.

Earle had a passion for skiing. When he was younger he spent a lot of time in North Conway & Tuckerman’s Ravine with his ski buddies. He spent time skiing many weekends with his family at Boston Hill Ski Area in North Andover MA where he also worked as a ski instructor. Every year he planned a long ski trip with his family and the other “ski” families. So many memories were made with great people.

Earle was a dedicated family man and always put his family first. On top of serving his family and country, Earle served his community. He travelled extensively with Peg throughout the country with the Shriners. He was a devoted Mason for 61 years as a member of the Lodge of Stirling, and was a Past Master in 1992. Earle was also a 50 year, 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rites. Additionally, he was a well respected & hard working member of the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington, MA. Earle served as a member of the Arab Patrol where he was Captain of the Uniform Unit Staff in 2010. For many years up until his death, he was President of the Craftsmen.

Earle had many friends who truly cherished his kindness and sense of humor. He was a man’s man and a gentleman. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren... even the furry ones Ozzy & Simon. He will be greatly missed by all.

Earle was the devoted father of Andrea J. Voigt of Newburyport, Cheryl A. McKenzie and her husband Stewart of Medford and Bruce S. Voigt and his wife Kimberly of CA. Loving brother of Bobbi Treacy of Danvers. Cherished grandfather of Julie, Scottie, Dylan, Bryce, Jay, Timothy and great-grandfather of Dylan, Jayden, Tobi, Kynlee and Kayla.
