John M. Vetrano

March 4, 1934 -  January 31, 2018

John M. Vetrano of Malden,  passed away on Monday afternoon, January 31, 2018, with his loving wife and daughter at his side, he was 83.  John was born in Everett, in March of 1934, the son of Henry & Camella  (Napolitano) Vetrano.  He was raised and educated in Everett. He was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1952.

In September of 1953, John joined the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean War. He obtained the rank of Private First Class, and was assigned with the 570th. Transportation Company.  In August of 1955 he was discharged.

John and Marilyn have been residents of Malden for 60 years. John worked for I.B.E.W.  Local #103, as an electrician for 40 years.

John worked on most of the high rise buildings in Boston putting in electricity to light up the skyline, we all enjoy today.  He always loved working with his hands putting things together or trying to figure out how something worked.  Even as he aged he would still sit for hours trying to figure whatever challenge was put in front of him. We think, John would say his biggest accomplishment was his family.

His family always came first. Whether it was his immediate family or his parents, brothers or sisters of which he had many.  He was the youngest of nine children and was there for anyone that needed him. John’s biggest joy was visiting family members and spending time talking and catching up.  If he couldn’t go, he would call.  For his wife and family there is nothing he wouldn’t do.  If it was his kids, needing electrical work or painting, cleaning, putting things together he was always there.

John enjoyed golfing but as he aged he wasn’t able to do it as much as he would have liked.  Plagued by multiple joint replacements in his later years he became frustrated by how limited he was.

He was married for 60 years to his wife Marilyn and was a dedicated loving husband.  They were lucky enough to celebrate their 60th.   Anniversary on a Mediterranean Cruise.

Although his mobility was limited he tried his best to get around.  He was a great father to both his children.  Nothing he was doing was ever too important to not hear what they had to say or cater to their needs.  There wasn’t a game he missed or a recital he didn’t come to.  There wasn’t an anniversary he forgot to bring flowers or a birthday he didn’t do something special.

The last two years he walked around with a heavy heart from the loss of his son John.  We know they are both in heaven together along with other friends and family who have gone before them. They will both be missed greatly but there is solace in knowing they are together.

John is survived by his loving wife Marilyn G. (Hubbard) Vetrano.  He is the  father of Lynette G. Luschenat and her husband Rob of Andover, and  father-in-law of   Patricia  “ Patty” (Chisholm) Vetrano of Andover.  He is the cherished grandfather of Christopher & Gregory Vetrano and Craig & Lynzie Luschenat. Loving brother of Armundo Vetrano of Everett

John was predeceased by his son John H. Vetrano formerly of Andover and his late siblings Leo, Nicholas, Anthony, Michael, Henry, Lillian Vetrano & Josephine De’Angelis.
