Marie "Connie"  Tusini

April 8, 1918- February 1, 2018

Marie C. “Connie” (Plati) Tusini passed away Thursday afternoon, in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital after a short illness, she was 99. She was born in April of 1918, in the North End of Boston. She was the daughter of the late Gregorio & Rosaria Plati, Connie was one of 13 children to be welcomed into their family. She resided in Everett, and later moved to Medford where she lived with her husband and raised her two sons since 1951.

Everyone who knew Connie loved her. She was universally thought of as a kind, considerate and generous individual welcoming all visitors with a smile and a heaping portion of whatever was cooking on the stove. In her younger years Connie worked for Hood Milk and then during the war General Electric earning praise and recognition for her dedication and hard work. After her two sons were born Connie worked part time for Tufts University, earning not one but two rocking chairs over her long, 35 year career. She retired from Tufts in her seventies only because the University required it.

Connie witnessed several students come in as freshmen and ultimately become University professors, managers and distinguished members of society everywhere. She loved the college and the kids. As the University expanded around her home and the families from decades ago moved away Connie took to inviting the students living in the frat houses nearby in for spaghetti and meatballs. Every year resulted in a new crop of kids who knew her simple as “Aunt Connie”.

Connie’s favorite pastime was playing poker with her brothers and sisters and following politics on Fox News. The decades passed and Connie suffered the death of virtually everyone in her generation dear to her, including her husband Frank and all but one of her twelve brothers and sisters. Family meant everything to Connie yet she remained positive, happy and thankful her health was good enough to enjoy visits from her children and grandchildren. She always had a smile for them as they walked through the kitchen door to see her sitting in her favorite chair, watching Fox News.

Connie was the devoted mother of Thomas R. Tusini and wife Elizabeth of Medford & Paul M. Tusini and wife Katherine of Boxford. She is the cherished grandmother of Stephanie Gray and husband Justin, Kristen Tusini, and Paul Tusini all of Medford and Evan Tusini and wife Alta of Boxford. Loving sister of Grace Iozzo of Saugus. Marie is also survived by a multitude of nieces & nephews.

Connie was predeceased by her loving husband Frank R. Tusini, who passed on January 1, 2005. She is also predeceased by 11 siblings.
