 Joseph S. Symonds


Joseph S. Symonds, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 5th, at his home. Joe was born in Malden in 1964, the son of Joseph H. and Judith A. (Overlan) Symonds. He graduated from Pope John XXIII High School with the Class of 1982. He attended Saint Anselm College where he served as class president and received his degree in Business Administration in 1986. He spent most of his career in retail sales management. First in the Washington DC area, and for the last nine years, in the Boston area as a sales manager for Nordstrom.

Joe travelled extensively, and was especially fond of visiting St. Thomas and spending time with family and friends at Newfound Lake, NH. He was a talented photographer and enjoyed collecting antique cameras and photographs. He was very interested in genealogy and frequently contributed research to several genealogical resources.

He was the loving son of  Joseph H. Symonds Jr, and the late Judy A. (Overlan), cherished brother and brother in law of Jeffrey J. and wife Jeanette Symonds of Groveland, Jon M.  and wife Hannah Symonds of Melrose, and Jay P. and wife Lisa Symonds of Melrose, devoted uncle of Scott, Emma, Genevieve, Gabrielle, Julia, Grant, Jack, Jay Jr and Holden. Dearest friend of Father Paul Aveni of Marshfield and Edward Plotkin of West Newton.

Funeral services will be held from Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Friday, June 9th, with visitation starting at 9:30 AM and then a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Malden, at 1PM.
