Jay G. Swank

1977 - 2017


Jay G. Swank, a resident of Malden, passed away suddenly in his home on Oct 30th, at the age of 40. Jay was born in Poughkeepsie, NY in 1977. He spent time growing up in Walpole, MA, before his family settled in Windham, ME. In 2001, he married his sweetheart, Renee Whetstone, in Pennsylvania. The two eventually settled down in Malden to raise their family.

After completing his education, Jay had gotten his Cosmetology License and had worked as a Hairdresser. He also had worked for Internet Marketing Companies. Having worked with both AA and NA as part of his own recovery, Jay had also been involved in many recovery programs assisting others, as well as overseeing halfway houses. He was an active member of the Nazarene Church, both at the First Nazarene Church of Malden and at the District level. He also enjoyed being involved with the Windsor Hills Nazarene Camp and Retreat in New Hampshire.

He is survived by his wife Renee (Whetstone) Swank, his children, Aja, Jerome, and Lexi Swank of Malden, and Christian Peterson of NH, his parents, J. Grant and Priscilla Swank of Windham, ME, his sisters, Crystal Miller of ME and Heidi Inlow of CT, as well as is father and mother in law, Rev. Gerald and Ellen Whetstone of Malden, and his sister in law, Suzette Connery of Quincy.

Funeral Services will be held at the First Nazarene Church of Malden, 529 Eastern Ave, Malden on Saturday, November 4th, at 11 AM. Committal will be private.

Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Friday, November 3rd, from 4 – 8 PM.
