Raymond J. Spinney

1936-2020

   Raymond J. Spinney a longtime resident of Malden, passed away Friday, January 31, 2020 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, he was 84. Ray was born in Boston, the son of the late Harold & Helen Spinney. He was raised in Charlestown attended and later graduated from Charlestown High School. He played on the Charlestown High School hockey league.

   In January of 1955 Ray, joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.  He was a member of the TPB 3rd. Recon Sq. 8th Cavalry he served for the next three years and was later discharged in December of 1957, as a SP-3 (T) Specialist 3rd Class.

   Ray worked for some time for the City Of Malden, as a Meter Reader, and later was a postal worker. In his spare time he enjoyed watching all professional sports teams.  Ray also enjoyed listening to music from the fifties, such as Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Dean Martin and so many other artists of that era.

   Ray is survived by his daughters, Helena Palacios of Everett, Mary Flynn of Malden, Karen Spinney, Robin Spinney, Paula Spinney and Laureen Anderson, his son Patrick Spinney. His siblings, William Spinney

He was predeceased by his wife Kathleen Flynn of Malden and his late son Raymond. His late siblings, Robert Spinney, Doris Umbro, Margie Leonard and Ruth Walsh.

   Relatives and friends are welcome to visiting hours on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 9:30-11:00AM. At the conclusion of the hours everyone is invited to Holy Cross Cemetery for family graveside prayer with   U.S. Army Military Honors to follow, at 11:30.
