Robert J. “Scuppy” Scarpaci
Robert
J. “Scuppy” Scarpaci, a longtime resident of Malden who had
recently moved to Middleton, passed away suddenly on
Wed, December 2nd, in his home. Robert was born in East Boston
in 1943, the son of Daniel and Stella Scarpaci. He spent part of
his childhood in East Boston before the family moved to Malden.
After graduating from Malden High School, Scuppy joined the US
Marine Corps, and served during the Vietnam Era. Upon his
discharge he returned to the Malden area. While Robert had many
hobbies and interests, his love of cars led him to his career as
an auto body shop owner. In addition to his love for cars, he
was an avid boater and had served as the Commodore of the Point
of Pines Yacht Club in Revere for many years. In 1995, he
married his sweetheart, Deborah Vellucci, and the two settled
down in Malden together, and had just moved to Middleton about a
year ago. They spent many enjoyable years at their summer home
on the Cape with family and friends. Robert and Debbie shared
over 25 years of marriage together.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah, his step children, Jennifer
Bonner and husband Michael of Stoneham, Nicole Caruso of
Peabody, and Lindsay Coletti and husband Matthew of N. Andover.
Loving brother of Richard Scarpaci of FL, and Dennis Scarpaci of
ME. Loving uncle of Marc Scarpaci, Richard Scarpaci , Gabrielle
Sestito, Kerrie Lepage, Nicholas Scarpaci, Daniel Scarpaci, Ann
Marie Connors and the late Michael Scarpaci. He is also survived by 8
step-grandchildren, many great-nieces and nephews, and
his precious dog Zoe.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his
brother, Anthony.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 790 Salem
St, Malden on Wed, Dec 9th, at 10 AM. Committal will be private.
