Herbert R. Sanford

Herbert R. Sanford, of Peabody, passed away in his home on Thursday, Jan 26th, at the age of 77.  He was born in Medford in 1940, the son of Eugene and Rose Sanford.  He grew up in Malden, and after completing his education he enlisted in the US Army.  He was discharged and returned to the Malden area, and began working in the construction field. He first worked with the Local 22 Laborers Union, and later the Local 4 Crane Operators.  Eventually, disability forced his early retirement.  In 1980 he married his sweetheart, Theresa Brown.  The two shared 36 years of marriage together.  Herbert was very outgoing and enjoyed life to the fullest, trying to do everything he could.  He liked camping, and fishing, and in years past jogging.  Herbert was also a past member of the ITAM War Vets.

He is survived by his wife Theresa, and his children, David Sanford and wife Carol of Billerica, Diane Sanford of Melrose, and Linda Bresnahan and husband John of Wilmington, his sisters Carol Morse of Malden, and Roberta Banks of Martha's Vineyard,   as well as 11 cherished grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Herbert was preceded in death by his dearly departed grandson, Darien, and his bother Eugene Sanford.

A service will be held at the Chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St, Everett, on Mon, Jan 30th, at 10:00 AM.
