Carolyn A. Sampson
Carolyn A. (Langone) Sampson, 83, of
Methuen, formerly of Malden passed away peacefully with her
daughters Elisabeth and Carolyn at her side Tuesday morning, May
16th at the Nevins Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in
Boston, she was the daughter of the late Victor J. & Edna M.
(Pauley) Langone. Carolyn was raised in Malden where she
attended the Malden Public Schools graduating from Malden High
School with the Class of 1952. She was the recipient of the
Malden High School Biology & Bookkeeping Awards. Upon graduating
she became a secretary and bookkeeper for Springmeyer Shipping
and later for Bemis Bro. Bag Co. On October 24th,1954, she
married the love of her life, Russell E. Sampson and soon after
welcomed a family of 3 daughters and 1 son.
Both Carolyn & Russell were politically active at the state and
local level throughout the sixties and seventies. Carolyn
believed strongly in supporting and advocating for the civil
rights and equal rights of all people. She was an avid reader
and kept herself and others informed on these important issues.
If there were topics that she knew were of particular interest
to others, she would often pass along articles from the local
papers she read daily. Keeping in touch with friends and family
was always important to her. She also enjoyed date nights with
her husband, Russell which usually involved dinner and a movie.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara S. Davidson and her
husband James W. Davidson of Cincinnati, OH, daughter, Elisabeth
A. Paige and her husband Gordon E. Paige, Jr of Westminster,
son, Russell E. Sampson, Jr of Somerville, and daughter, Carolyn
R. Wilkinson of Methuen. She was the loving sister of Barbara A.
(Langone) Bielawski and her husband Chet W. Bielawski of
Shelburne, VT. She was the cherished grandmother of nine
grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and beloved aunt to
many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Russell E. Sampson, Sr.

Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Sunday, May 21, 2017
from 4-8 PM.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday,
May 22, 2017 at 9 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at
Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St, Malden at 10 AM.
Interment will be at Forest Dale Cemetery on a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn's memory may be
made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 309
