Carolyn J. Rachels
1932 - 2018
Carolyn J. (Spencer) Rachels, a longtime
resident of Malden, passed away on May 6th in Boston after a
brief illness. Carolyn was born in 1932, the daughter of Albert
and Caroline Spencer. She was raised in Everett and graduated
from Everett High School with the Class of 1950 In 1955, she
married her sweetheart, Dick Rachels, and the two settled down
in Malden together to raise their family. They shared 40 years
of marriage together until Dick's passing in 1995.
She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Red Sox and
Patriots. She also enjoyed jazz and county music. Carolyn was
especially proud of the grandchildren earning their Masters
She is survived by her children, Callie L. Rachels of Malden,
Richard E. Rachels Jr. of Middleton, and Janice M. Willcox of W.
Peabody, her sister Barbara E. Mini of Malden, and her
grandchildren, Vanessa, Sheila and Keith.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother Albert Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Thur., May 10th, at 10 AM,
followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wed, May 9th,
from 4 – 8 PM.
