Norman E. Pashoain Jr.

1928 - 2017

Pashoian, Norman E. Jr, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital.  Norman was born in 1928, the son of Norman E. and Takouhy “Queenie” Pashoian.  He was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1946.  After a short term with the US Army, Norman found employment at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Boston, now known as the Taj Boston.  He worked as a doorman there for over 66 years.  “Norman the Doorman” came to know many celebrities over the years, including John Kennedy, Jackie Onassis, and Yule Brenner.  His love of the job kept him working there until the age of 85.

In 1950, he met his future wife, Claire LeVangie, after she left a note on his car.  The two courted for four years, and were married in May of 1954.  They settled down  in Malden together to raise their children.  Norman and Claire shared over 50years of marriage together until her passing in 2005.  Aside from Claire, the other love he had in life was golf.  He was a member of the Gannon Golf Course in Lynn for over 50 years, and always believed in an honest score card.  He also enjoyed other sports, especially hockey.  In addition, Norman had a great fondness for sharp looking clothing and fast driving cars.

He is survived by his children, Norman E. Pashoian III of VA, Mark G. Pashoian of Melrose, Lisa Pashoian-Cook of Beverly, and David A. Pashoian of Dracut, his brothers, Edward L. Pashoian of Malden, and Warren L. Pashoian of Lynn, as well as 10 grandchildren.

Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home on Tues, June 6th, at 9 AM  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church,  Malden, at 10 AM.   His urn will be placed in a niche next to his wife at Holy Cross Cemetery immediately following the Mass.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 5th, from 4 – 8  PM.
