Salvatore M. Pagliarini

 

Salvatore M. Pagliarini, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Friday, Dec 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. Sal was born in Cambridge in 1926, the son of John and Carmela Pagliarini. He was raised in Everett, and was drafted in the US Army’s 2nd Infantry Division and fought bravely in the European Theatre in WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the Boston area and completed his education. He soon met the love of his life, and in 1955, he and Rose Capobianco were married in Boston’s North End. The couple settled down in Somerville where they lived for over 30 years, raising their family. They then moved to Malden where they have lived for almost another 30 years. They shared 61 years of marriage together.

Sal worked at the Fenton Shoe Company as a factory worker for 35 years, until the factory closed. He then went to work at Northstar Laundry in Somerville, and worked there until he retired at the age of 85. In his spare time he enjoyed drawing and sketching.

He is survived by his wife, Rose, his daughters, Mary Ann Seavey and husband David of Norwell, Rosemary Scurini and husband Stephen of N. Andover, and Jean Roy and husband Kevin of Middleton, his grandchildren, Stephen Scurini and wife Jessica, Laura Scurini, Dylan Roy, Jarrod Seavey, Alison Roy, and Jack Scurini, and his niece Theresa Kelley, as well as many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Sal was preceded in death by his twin brother, Domenic Pagliarini.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Wednesday, December 28th, at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Joseph’s Church, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 27th, from 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sal’s memory may be made to The American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-8750 , or the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Ave, Norwood, MA 02062.
