Olga (Poma) Elibero, a longtime resident of
Melrose, passed away Sunday, October 22, at the Melrose
Wakefield Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Olga
was born in Tunisia, N. Africa in 1928, the daughter of John and
Catherine Poma. She was raised and educated there, and in
1949, she moved to the United States and settled in Roslindale.
She soon met her future husband, Edward Elibero at Sansone
Clothing in Boston. Two years later they were married and
settled down together in Roslindale to raise their family. They
shared over 40 years of marriage together until Ed’s passing in
1993. At that time she moved to Malden for a short time before
moving to Melrose where she remained.
Olga enjoyed traveling, especially cruising,
and was a member of the Cantera Travel Club of Malden, and in
later year was a member of the Single Life Club. She also
enjoyed cooking and crocheting, and was always making afghans
and bedspreads for the children.
She is survived by her children, Eileen
Ragucci and husband Chester of Stoneham, and Grace McShane and
husband James of Melrose, her sister of Lillian Hauvuy
and husband Alan, her sister in law Yolanda Poma of Roslindale,
her grandchildren, Eileen McShane, Fursey Keleghan, Andrea
Ragucci and James McShane, and her great grandchildren, Kayla,
Ariana, Giulianna, and James Brooks. Also survived by her three
faithful dogs, Bruschi, Jingle, and Simon.
Funeral services will be held from the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on
Friday, Oct 27th 8:45 AM, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial in Most Blessed Sacrament, 1155 Main St,
Wakefield, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct 26th,
from 4 – 8 PM.
