 Martha Mary Moran

 

Martha Mary Moran, of Malden formerly of Somerville, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2016, in Wilmington.  She was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas F and Elizabeth M. (Conway) Moran.  Loving niece of the late Frances M. and Philip E. Conway.  Cousin of George M. Herliky of Arlington.  Close and devoted friend of the late Madeline A. DeAntonis of Reading.  She was also a close friend of Ann (Petts) Miller of Guildford, Surrey, England. 

Miss Moran graduated from Somerville High School with the Class of 1943, and received her BS in Education from Salem State College in 1947.  She later received her Masters Degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Elementary School School Supervision, both from Boston University.  She was the past president of the Salem State College Alumni Association of Arlington, Cambridge, and Somerville and Vice President of the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Pi Lambda Theta, Affiliated with Boston University.  She served several terms as Treasurer of the Everett Teachers Association.

Funeral from the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street on Monday, May 2nd, at 9 AM for visitation and Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden, at 11 AM.  Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington, MA. 

Donations in Martha's memory may be made to the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT, 59004.
