Helen P. Miklas,
a retired chemist for the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute,
passed away in Malden on Thursday, November 24th. Helen was born
in Adams, MA, in 1928, the daughter of Stephan and Sophia Miklas.
She was raised in Adams, and after graduating high school she
attended Russell Sage College in NY where she received her
Bachelor of Science degree. She began working as a chemist,
working for Rohm & Hass in Philadelphia. After working there for
many years, she took a position with the Woods Hole
Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts. She retired in the mid
90’s. She had also worked for a short time as a myotherapist,
having attended the Bonnie Pruden School of Myotherapy. In her
spare time, Helen was an avid walker, and enjoyed going skiing.
She is survived by her niece, Lee A. Fraser, of Malden.
Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Fraser, and her
nephew, Robert D. Fraser.
