Joann    McCarthy

October 20, 1963 - April 27, 2019

 

   Joann McCarthy, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, in the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital on Saturday morning, April 27, 2019. Her loving brothers and sister-in-law were at her side, she was 55. Joann was born in Malden, and was the daughter of the late John J. and Ruth (Likely) McCarthy.

   Joann was raised in Malden. She was a graduate of Pope John High School in Everett, and continued her education at Salem State College with a degree in accounting. She continued her education at Bentley College where she would receive her Masters Degree.

   Joann had a passion for horses and was known as an avid horse owner. She owned many in her years; her two latest loves were Amado & Jaspere that were well pampered by her. They are presently boarded at the Rose Brook Farms in Georgetown. Joann was a proud Dressage Rider and received many accomplishments with the USDF, both for herself and her loving horses. She was a well-known member of the USDF, the USEF and NEDA. Joann leaves many beloved friends that she has met over the years.

   Joann was a valued and respected Tax Manager at the White Mountains Capital and its affiliates One Beacon Insurance Company, CGU and CGNU, spanning over 30 years.

   Joann is survived by her siblings & sisters-in-law, John and Deborah McCarthy of Londonderry, NH, Thomas and Kelly McCarthy of Stoneham, her late brother Paul and Janice McCarthy of Andover. Joann was the cherished and loving aunt to Paul, John, Shannon,Tyler, Allison, and Chris. She also leaves behind her beloved dog Buttons.

   Joann was predeceased by her parent’s John J. & Ruth (Likely) McCarthy, her brother Paul McCarthy, and her sister Laurie McCarthy.

   Joann’s funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St, Malden at 10AM.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the funeral home on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 4-8PM.

   In lieu of flowers contributions in Joann’s memory may be made to Upreach Therapeutic Equestrian Center Inc., 153 Paige Hill Road, Goffstown, NH, 03045.
