Anne R. Martin

July 12, 1923 -  November 28, 2016

 


     Anne R. Martin, a long time resident of Malden passed away at her home on Monday morning, November 28, 2016 with her loving family at her side. She was 93. Anne was born in Winchester, MA on July 12, 1923 the daughter of the late John J. & Helena M. (Doucette) Kilcoyne.

      Anne attended St. Charles School in Woburn. After her schooling she worked at the General Electric Plant during WWII. She later met the love of her life John (Pepper) Martin. The couple married in September of 1944 in St. Patrick’s Church, Stoneham and started a family.

     In the couples early years Anne & Pepper started their own greenhouse business in Malden called the  Martin’s Flower Shop, on Lebanon St., Malden. The business has been in Malden for over 70 Years. Martin’s Flower Shop a family business still to this day,  that many Malden residents and surrounding communities depend on for all their beautiful floral needs.

     Anne’s biggest job then in early times began with the raising of seven children, Maureen, Kathleen, Colleen, Henry, Daniel, Eileen, and Frederick. It seems inadequate to say Anne was a devoted to her family. When in fact Anne was known as the glue that held the family together, through good times and hard times. Grammy never held a baby that she didn’t love immediately and instantly take into her heart. Anne was wise, hardworking, understanding and will forever be engraved in her family’s hearts.

     Anne was the devoted mother of Maureen Furilla and her husband Edmund of Plymouth, MA Kathleen Darbe and her husband Les of North Reading, Colleen Martin, Henry E. Martin, Daniel J. Martin and his wife Nancy all of Malden, Eileen Uberti and her husband James of Litchfield, NH, Frederick J. Martin and his wife Deborah of Stoneham.

     Anne was the cherished grandmother of twelve grandchildren, Kevin & Rebecca Furilla of Tewksbury, Kerry & Andrew Miller of Hopkinton, Keith & Elizabeth Furilla of Whitinsville, Colleen & John Campbell of Derry, NH, Brian Darbe of N. Reading, Megan Uberti of Litchfield, NH. Matthew Uberti of Litchfield, NH, Melinda & Patrick Lane of Lynn, Daniel Martin of Malden, John, Timothy and Ryan Martin all of Stoneham.

     Eight great-grandchildren, Hailey & Alison Furilla of Tewksbury, Jack, Molly, Emily Miller of Hopkinton, Tristen Martin of Malden, Joey & Kevin Campbell of Derry, NH and 3 nieces and their families.

    Anne was also survived by her loving brother in-law Ernie Martin.

    Anne was predeceased by her loving husband John (Pepper) Martin and her late sister Esther Premont and her late husband Archie.

     Funeral from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Thursday, December 1st, at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 10AM.Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Winchester, MA

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday,  November. 30, 2016 from 4-8 PM.
