Elizabeth T. Marciello

1928 - 2018


   Elizabeth T. (Bigelow) Marciello, affectionately called Betty, passed away on Saturday, September 15th, at the age of 90. Elizabeth was born in Malden in 1928, the daughter of John and Mary Bigelow. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the class of 1946. In November of 1947, she married Nicholas J. Marciello, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. They shared 33 years of marriage together until Nicholas’s passing in 1980.

   Over the years, Elizabeth had worked many jobs, most notable for the North Shore Music Theater, where she was in charge of group sales, as well as having a sales position with the Grayline Bus Company in Boston. She was very civic minded, and was a longtime poll worker, as well as a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Jamaica Plain. Elizabeth was also an active member of the American Legion in Somerville. She was known for her excellent cooking, and took great joy in helping to care for her grandchildren while they were growing up.

   Elizabeth is survived by her children, Robert Marciello and wife Jill of Hanover, Debra Marciello of Gloucester, Nancy Gramolini and husband James of Saugus, her sister, Shirley Thompson of N. Reading, as well has her 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

   Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas, her son Dennis Marciello, and her brothers, John and William Bigelow, and her sister Loraine Moscardini.

   Family and friends may gather at 9 AM for a memorial service held on Thursday, September 20th, at 10 AM, at the Weir - MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden.  Interment will follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
