1941 - 2020
Robert MacDonald, a retired truck driver, passed
away on Saturday, March 14th, in Melrose. Robert was born in
Roxbury in 1941, the son of Earl and Mildred MacDonald. After
completing his education, he began working in the construction
field as a truck driver. He then started the Maxzim Floor
Company, specializing in cleaning carpets. He ran that business
for 20 years, and then returned to driving trucks. In 1999, he
moved to Las Vegas, and first began working at Hotel Furniture
Sales and Liquidation in their warehouse. He then took
employment with a private security firm, American Security,
until his retirement, after which he returned to Malden, where
he resided until recently moving to North Reading.
He is survived by his nephew, Richard and Dianne Garro of North
Reading. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Jo- Ann (Garro)
MacDonald. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19th, at the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, at
10 AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday,
March 18th, from 4 – 8 PM.
