Helen D. Lundstrom 

1923 - 2017

 

 

Helen D. (Sandgren) Lundstrom, a lifelong resident of Melrose, passed away on Tuesday,  Oct 24th, after a brief illness.   Helen was born in Melrose in 1923, the daughter of Edward and Elsa Sandgren.  She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School with the Class of 1941.   In 1946, she married her sweetheart, Lester B. Lundstrom, and the two  settled down in Melrose to raise their family.  They shared nearly 50 years of marriage together until Lester's passing in 1995.  She was a woman with traditional values who was dedicated to her family.  She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, and loved tending to her garden. 

She is survived by her children, Patricia Beal and husband William of Rockland, and Pamela Hallinan and husband John of Saugus, her sister Gertrude Haines of NH, her grandchildren, Kerri Evans and husband Carl, Steven Beal, and Jaclyn Barletta  and husband Ryan, and her  great-grandchildren,  Nathaniel, Olivia, Samuel, Grace, and Kaitlyn. 

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St,  Malden, on  Monday, Oct 30th, (Time to be announced).  Interment to follow in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct 29th, from 5 – 7 PM.  In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Malden, 62 Church St, Malden, MA 02148
