Barbara A. Long

June 23, 1945 - January 16, 2018



   Barbara A. Long of Malden passed away, January. 16, 2018 after a long illness in the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on Tuesday morning, with her loving family at her side, she was 72. Barbara was the daughter of the late George W. & Gertrude A. (Shiels) Laskey.

   Barbara was raised and educated in Malden; she was a graduate of Malden High School Class of 1963.
Barbara was a loving and compassionate mother of 3 children, Theresa, James and Melissa, grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Barbara was a hardworking, passionate tower of strength to her family, who never waned in her support or love for each member in her family.

   Barbara was also the proud owner of “Barbara’s Daycare”. A place were no child’s birthday was ever missed and no requests for those parents were ever refused. Barbara soldiered on, even when times got tough. She had an infectious Laugh! She loved to dance and loved to travel or just sit on Revere Beach reading a good book. She & her soul mate Dickie loved to travel to Vegas or Foxwoods or a tropical island.

   Barbara is survived by her daughter, Theresa M. Long of Malden, her son, James J. Long Sr. of Dracut. Loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Loving sister of Gertrude Crowley & George Laskey both of Malden.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving daughter Melissa A. Long-Hampton.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Church, 577 Salem St., Malden, on Friday January 19, 2018 at 10AM. The family has asked that everyone go directly to church.

   In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions in Barbara’s memory be made to Hallmark Health Hospice, 178 Savin St., Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148.
