“Betty” Lockhart, 87, of Malden, passed away on Thursday,
September 30th surrounded by family. Betty was born in Medford
on November 8th, 1933, the daughter of Lowell and Margaret
(Shaw) LeCain. She was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden
High School in 1951 and graduated from Chandler’s School for
Women in 1952. After Chandler’s, Betty worked at Boston Bouve
School of Physical Therapy as a secretary. In 1956, she married
her sweetheart, Harry Lockhart Jr., and the two settled down in
Malden to raise their family. Betty and Harry were married for
over 65 years.
Betty loved music and enjoyed playing the piano. She also loved
ceramics, was a voracious reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and
word searches, loved every Boston Sports team ,had been active
with the Malden High School Band Parents Association, and loved
watching her grandchildren participate in their various
activities. Betty above all loved spending time with her
husband, children, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Lockhart Jr., her children
Karyn Lockhart-Kipnis and her husband Al of Woburn, Kenneth
Lockhart and his wife Jill of South Plymouth, and Elaine
Antonellis and her husband Michael of Watertown, her
grandchildren, Richard, Jason, Samantha, Andrea, Erik, Michaela,
her great grandchild Arthur as well as many other family and
friends that will miss her dearly.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Margaret
LeCain and her brother David LeCain.
A night of visitation will be held for Betty in the
Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on
Monday, October 4th from 4-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to
the Dementia Society of America, PO Box 600, Doylestown, PA
