John L. Legon Jr

 

John L. Legon Jr, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Friday, September 2nd, at the Golden Living Center in Malden.  John was born in Newport, RI, in 1942, the son of John and Norma Legon.  At an early age the family moved to Malden,  and John graduated from Malden High School,  He soon enlisted in the US Army and helped our counties fight in the Vietnam War.  After his discharge,  he returned to Malden, and began working as a parts clerk for the Car Fastener Company.  He was with the company for over 20 years, and after retiring from there, he took a job with the US Post Office as a clerk.   John had a great love for trains, and enjoyed model trains from the time he was a youth.  He was also an avid fisherman. 

He is survived by his brother Robert K. Legon of Malden, his uncle Frank E. Lagon of VA, his cousins, Susan A. Graham of Amesbury, Norma J. Foster of Pepperell, and Judith E. Emmanuel of VA, as well as numerous grand nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Norma (Lessey) Legon, and his uncle Peter Lagon.

Visitation for John will  be held on Friday, Sept 9th, at the Weir –MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, from 4 – 8 PM. 

Funeral Services will be held in St. Lukes Episcopal Church, 201 Washington Ave, Lynn, MA  on Sat, Sept 10th, at 10 AM.  Interment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
