Norman C. Lauritzen

January 17, 1930-March 18, 2017



   Norman C. Lauritzen, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Sat, Mar 18th.  Norman was born and raised in Malden, and graduated from the Malden Vocational School with the Class of 1948.  He then enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Korean War.  Upon his honorable discharge, Norman returned to Malden.  He ended up working at the Christian Science Monitor, as the Assistant Superintendent of the composing room.   After retiring in 1988, he went on to work for the Meals on Wheels program, assisting in the preparation of the meals.  He also took employment with the City of Malden as a Crossing Guard at the Forest Dale School.  In June of 1960, Norman married his sweetheart, Marjorie V. Harris, and the two settled down together in Malden.  They shared over 56 years of marriage together. 

   Norman was a past member of the Lodge of Sterling in Malden.  He enjoyed fishing, and was an avid movie buff.  In addition, Norman enjoyed photography.

   A memorial service will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Funeral Home, 144 Salem St,  Malden, on Friday, March 24th, at 10 AM.  Intmerment to follow in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.

   Norman is survived by his loving wife Marjorie V. (Harris) Lauritzen, devoted father of Brenda Gibson & Lisa Crossley both of NH, Diane Murphy & Nancy Lowe both of VA and Andrea Howlett of Roslindale. Brother of Laura Tiedeman of AZ. Cherished grandfather of 8 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren.

Norman was predeceased by his siblings, Stella Phinney, Ruth DeFazio, Henry & William Lauritzen Jr.
