Pauline M. (MacPherson)
Ivany, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Thursday,
November 15, at her home with her loving family by her side.
Pauline was born in Launching, Prince Edward Island, Canada, in
1930, the daughter of Frank and Mary MacPherson. She was raised
in Launching, and after graduating high school, she attended a 2
year business school. In 1950, she married her sweetheart,
Douglas J. Ivany. They two lived in Canada and began raising
their family. In 1968, the family moved to the Boston area,
first living in Everett, before settling down in Malden.
Pauline and Doug shared over 50 years of marriage together until
his passing in 2001.
Aside from the raising of
their 8 children, Pauline worked for the Mass Electric Company
as an office clerk. In her spare time she would knit hats for
newborns in the pediatric ward. She also enjoyed playing cards
She is survived by her
children, J. Wayne Ivany of Tewksbury, Phyllis M. Ivany of
Watertown, Heather A. Ford and her husband Gerard of NB Canada, Douglas F. Ivany of
Murrells Inlet, SC, Deborah M. Buttlar of Seabrook, NH, Mary E.
Richardson and her husband Peter of Everett, Kelly L. Holmes and
her husband Steve of Yarmouth, and Joseph
H. Ivany and his wife Maureen of Malden, as well as her 16 grandchildren and 23
Pauline was preceded in
death by her husband, Douglas, and her siblings, Elizabeth
Burke, Frances Battan, Margaret Campbell, Joseph MacPhearson,
Madeline Arsenault, and Florence Fay.
Funeral services will be
held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem
St, Malden on Monday, Nov 19th, at 11 AM. Interment
to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Visitation will
be held at the funeral home on Sun, Nov. 18th, from 3
– 7 PM
