Ruth E. Hiltz

1932 - 2017

Ruth E. (Graves) Hiltz a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away peacefully in the Melrose Wakefield hospital on October 1, 2017. Ruth was born in Malden in 1932, the daughter of Edwin and Ruth Graves. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1950. While in High School she was active in sports and was co-captain of the Field Hockey Team. Right after high school, she went to work at the Colonial Management Group Mutual Fund Company, where she first started as a secretary. Years later she returned to the company as the S.E.C. Administrator for the company. She retired in 1992.

As a nearly lifelong member of the Maplewood Baptist Church in Malden, her faith and the Church were everything to her. She worked as the Secretary and Treasurer for the Church, a longtime Trustee, and also served as the Sunday School Superintendent. She was a Junior High Sunday School teacher and made a lasting impression on many of her students.

She is survived by her children, Allan Hiltz Jr. of Medford and Linda Febles of North Billerica, her brother John Graves of NH, her sister Susan Hatch of NH, and her grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, and Daniel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Allan Hiltz Sr, her sister Marjorie Spearing, and her brother, Edwin “Buddy” Graves.

Funeral services for Ruth will be held on Thurs, Oct 5th, at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, at 12 Noon, with visitation from 10 – 12. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
