Allan C. Hiltz Sr.
C. Hiltz Sr, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on
Sunday, April 10th, in the Courtyard Nursing Home in Medford.
Allan was born in Wakefield in 1931, the son of Albert “Carl”
and Mary E. Hiltz. He was raised in Malden and graduated from
Malden High School with the Class of 1949. After high school, he
attended Northeastern Universitywhere he took some business
courses. He put his education on hold to enlist in the US Air
Force. He served until 1956, when he was honorably discharged.
Allan soon married his sweetheart, Ruth E. Graves, and the two
first lived in Melrose before moving to Malden where they raised
their family. They shared nearly 60 years together in marriage.
Allan had worked in the car tire industry, starting out as a
salesman before becoming a sales manager, while working for BF
Goodrich and Gans Tires. He left that industry to take a postion
with the Massachusetts Division of Employment and Training. He
fully retired in 1990.
Allan was very involved with the Boy Scouts in Malden. He also
had a passion for crossword puzzles and was an avid newspaper
reader. He was also very dedicated to family, spending years
caring for his own parents, raising his own children, and being
a loving “Papa” to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, his children, Allan C. Hiltz Jr
of Medford, and Linda J. Febles of N.Billerica, and his
grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, and Daniel.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Wed, April 13th,
at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will be held from 10-12. Interment
to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield..
