Janet L. Hanlon

1936 - 2019



Janet L (Connolly) Hanlon,  a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Thursday April 11, after a sudden accident. Janet was born in Brighton in 1936, the daughter of John and Isabelle Connolly. She was raised there and graduated from Brighton High School. In 1977 the family relocated to Malden.  Janet was married to Daniel J. Hanlon Jr. and the two shared many wonderful years together until Daniel's passing in 1993. Janet was an avid bingo player. She was also a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Irish American in Malden, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Beachmont VFW in Revere. She also volunteered as a chaperone for the Malden Dipomats.

She is survived by her children, Lori J. Hurley and husband Michael of FL, David J. Connolly and wife Kathleen of Dracut, Douglas J. Hanlon and wife Sheri of Townsend, and Katherine J. Hanlon and fiancé David Melagrano of Stoneham, as well as her 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Norma Werner, John Connolly, Douglas Connolly, Muriel LaVesque, James Connolly, and William Connolly.

Funeral services will be held from the Weir – MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Wednesday, April 17th, at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church at 10 AM.

Interment will take place with her husband in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 16th, from 4- 8 PM
