Jean (Crescenzo) Gortot, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016, with the comfort of family by her side. Jean was born in East Boston in 1938, the daughter of Vincent and Albina Crescenzo. She moved to Malden at an early age, and she graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1956. In 1958, she married her sweetheart, Frank P. Gortot, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. They shared nearly 40 years together until Frank's passing in 1996. Jean worked for the federal government for many years, first with the Federal Department of Transportation, and later in a security role. She retired in 1995. She was a loving, dedicated mother and grandmother, and spent as much time with her grandchildren as she could, even assisting with raising some of them.


She is survived by her children, Donna M. Gortot-Como of Malden and Frank P. Gortot of FL, her grandchildren, Samantha, Sandra, Gabrielle, Jessica, and Christian, her brother Vincent Crescenzo of Charlestown, and her sisters, Rose Bevelaqua of NH, Dorothy Culleton of Malden.


She was preceded in death by her husband Frank, and her brother John Crescenzo.


A celebration of life will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Saturday, Dec 10th, from 4-8 PM. All other services private. Donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Susan B. Koman Foundation, P. O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309
