 Beatrice E. “Buttercup”  Gooding

 

Beatrice E. “Buttercup”  Gooding, a lifelong resident of Malden, passed away on Thursday, June 30th, at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital,  at the age of 78.  Beatrice was born in Malden in 1937.  She was a graduate of Malden High School with the Class of 1955.  After high school, Beatrice went to work at the Schraffs Candy Company in Charlestown.  Later she took employment with Blue Cross Blue Shield, where she worked until her retirement. 

Beatrice married her sweetheart, James Gooding Sr, in 1984, in Malden.  They settled down together and shared over 25 years together until his passing in 2010.  She enjoyed watching races and the occasional trip to Foxwoods.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family for big and small occasions.

She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Bettye”  Moore of Malden her niece,  Darcy Jones and husband Michael of Malden, her great nephews, Vinny his wife Johanna and daughter Eva , Darren and daughter Mya , LaDonne , Mikey , and Moe Marshall. Great niece Jasmyn. Cousins Hazel Jolly and husband Bob (late), JoAnn MacDonald (late) and husband Mac , Ruth Garro (late), Norma Rogers and husband Dicky (both late) , John Dobay and wife Pam , Lisa Banks and husband James , Richard Garro and Diane Shauck , the Hector cousins of Boston and the Anderson cousins of Malden and many many close friends. 

Beatrice was preceded in death by her mother Roberta M. Hector, her niece Deanna Moore, and her great niece,  Sacoya.

Funeral services at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Fri, July 8th, at 10 AM, followed with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thurs, July 7th, from 4 – 8 PM.
