Marylyn Giunta

 

1933 - 2019

 

Marylyn C. Giunta, a longtime resident of Sandwich, passed away on Sunday, April 14th, surrounded by her loving family.  Marylyn was born in Chelsea in 1933, the daughter of Frank and Anna Ankiewicz.  She grew up in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School with the Class of 1951.  In 1952, she married her sweetheart, Joseph L. Giunta, and the two settled down in Malden to raise their family. After the children had grown, they moved to relocated to Cape Cod and settled in Sandwich where they lived for the past 40 years.  Marylyn and Joseph shared over 55 years of marriage together until Josephs passing in 2008.  Marylyn had worked a telephone operator for “Ma Bell”.  She enjoyed gardening, and for many years she and her husband had volunteered at the Cape Cod Melody Tent.

She is survived by her children, Joanne M. Gallant and husband Philip of Byfield, Patricia Giunta of FL, Joseph A.  Giunta and wife Elizabeth of Malden, and Donna M. Tighe and husband Peter of FL, her siblings,  Ronald & James Jordan and Fran Petrillo. Her grandchildren Mandie, Tara Lee, Joseph, Domenic, and Kristina, and her great grandson,  Dylan.  Also survived by many loving cousins. 

Funeral  will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Tuesday,  April  23rd, at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Medford, at 10 AM.  Interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.   Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 4 – 8 PM.
