Margaret E. Franco
August 23, 1923 - August 15, 2017
Margaret E. (Giardello) Franco passed on at the Glen Ridge
Nursing Care Center in Medford after a short illness, she was 93.
Born in Everett, she was one of six children born to Joseph &
Carmella (Perriello) Giardello. She was raised and educated in
Everett. She was a graduate of Everett High School, Class of
After her schooling, Margaret took employment with a local law
firm as a legal secretary. Margaret would later marry the love of her
life, Charlie Franco. The couple were married in St. Anthony’s
Church, Everett, on May 18, 1952. They lived for a few
years in Everett, but later settled in Malden and started a
family. They spent over 60 years together until Charlie’s
sudden passing on February 9, 2013.
Margaret worked as a substitute teacher and later as a cafeteria
worker in Malden. She was a longtime member of the Mothers Club
of St. Joseph’s Church. She had a love for traveling with
Charlie and her family. They enjoyed many trips to Cape Cod,
Europe, Hawaii and Canada. She enjoyed sewing,
knitting, painting and working her garden in the backyard. She
was known as a great cook and loved baking for her family. She
enjoyed spending time with her relatives and friends but really
enjoyed her cherished grandchildren. Along with her husband
Charlie, she enjoyed all the Boston Sports teams.
Margaret is survived by her children, Joanne M. Franco, Susan P.
Gugliotti and husband John J. and Charles J. Franco all of
Malden. Cherished grandmother of John Gugliotti and his wife Liz &
Christopher Gugliotti all of Billerica and Michael Gugliotti of
Malden. She was the loving sister of Gloria Keane & Doris
Giardello both of Everett. She is also survived by many
wonderful nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her loving husband Charlie S. Franco, her
sister’s Josephine DiFranza, Mildred Perriello, Mary Giardello.
Margaret’s funeral will be held from the Weir-Mac Cuish Golden
Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Friday, August 18,
2017, at 8 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St.
Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St., Malden, at 9AM. Interment will
follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday,
August 17, 2017, from 4-8PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Margret’s memory may be
made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St.
Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
