Marilyn Eugenia (Booker) Francis "Bookie", age 78, of Malden,
MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 28,
2021 after a brief illness. Marilyn was born on January 19, 1943
in Portland, ME to the late Chester and Marion (Fulton) Booker.
Marilyn loved to dance, figure skate, and was a majorette at
Deering High School in Portland, ME. She loved spending time at
her grandparent's farm on the Ossipee River in Effingham Falls,
The family moved from Portland, ME to Malden, MA during her
senior year of high school, where she was quickly swept up in
the social whirl there as a member of Greenroom, Tri-Hi, a
football usherette, and she loved chemistry, graduating with the
Malden High Class of 1962.
Marilyn went to nursing school, and then worked for many years
as a Registered Nurse at the former Malden Hospital. She
eventually decided to leave nursing to raise her family. Marilyn
was one of the original founders of the Ambassadors Drum & Bugle
Corps of Malden, MA. She was a member of the League of Women
Voters, and was very active in local and state politics.
Marilyn went on to have a long and distinguished career at the
Massachusetts Department of Revenue, winning many awards and
much respect, she retired in 2017.
Marilyn loved camping at Sunset Park in Hampstead, NH, swimming,
and walking. But her biggest love of all was spending time with
her grandsons Joey and Billy.
Marilyn is predeceased by her parents Chester H. Booker, Marion
E. (Fulton) Booker-Towle; step-father Loring Towle; sister
Sandra (Booker) Graves, brother-in-law Wes Graves, beloved
nephew Andrew Graves; nephew Eric Francis; her "adopted son"
Craig Ballarino; and her dear friend Richard Kimball.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter Teri (Francis) Restuccia,
son-in-law Bill Restuccia, grandson Will Restuccia, of
Wilmington, MA; her son Mark G. Francis, of Malden, MA; their
dad Felton G. Francis of E. Wakefield, NH; her cousin Maureen
(Richardson) Morrison of Brentwood, NH; her nephew Chris Graves
and his wife Barbara, and their children Tabitha, Timothy, and
Rebecca, and many great-great niece and nephews of Pensicola,
Fl; her grandson Joe Perullo of Woburn, MA; the Lucy to her
Ethel, Claire Restuccia of Toms River, NJ; her favorite
brother-in-law Glen Francis of Milton Mills, NH; sister-in-law
Diane (Francis) Cipriano of Melrose; nephew Michael Cipriano,
his wife Julie and their son Matthew of Lynn; her niece Cheryl (Cipriano)
Slauenwhite, her husband Frank and their daughter Sophia of
Woburn, MA; All of her "adopted kids" who call her Ma, including
Michael Yawnick of Andover, Mark Grandi of Everett, Donna
Zacchini of Salem, MA, and daughter-in-law Jacqui MacDonald of
Wakefield, MA; many friends, extended family, and beloved
Marilyn will fondly be remembered for her words of wisdom, sense
of humor, generosity, and kindness.
