Joseph V. Duffy Jr
Joseph V. Duffy Jr, a retired Court Officer for
Middlesex County, passed away on Saturday, May 9th, at the age
of 87. Joe was born in Malden in 1933, the son of Joseph V. Sr,
and Mary W. Duffy. He was raised in Medford, and after
graduating from High School, he later went onto study at Boston
University for 2 years.
In 1953, Joseph enlisted in the US Army.
He served 3 years of honorable, active duty services before
being transferred to the National Guard to complete his
enlistment. In 1959, Joseph Married his sweetheart, Helene M.
Coffey, in St. Josephs Church in Malden, and the two settled
down in Malden together to raise their family. Joe was active in
the Malden Community, coaching Malden Youth Hockey, and
assisting at the church bingo nights. He was also active with
the St. Josephs Men's Club. He began working at the Malden Post
Office, and was there for nearly 10 years before taking a
position with the Middlesex Superior Court House as a Court
Officer eventually working in the jury department. He worked
there for 30 years until 1996 when he retired. Upon his
retirement, Joseph and Helene moved to North Billerica to be
closer to family.
He is survived by his wife, Helene M. (Coffey) Duffy, his
children, Paula M. Dulong and husband Kenneth of Billerica,
Joseph V. Duffy and wife Diane of Litchfield, and Karen M.
Foster and husband Brian of N. Billerica, his grandchildren,
Nicole Chamberland and husband Christopher of Chelmsford, Bryan
Dulong and wife Jamie of NH, and Paul Foster of N. Billerica,
and his great grandchildren, Brayden, Landon, and Emerson.
A private burial will take place in Forest Dale Cemetery,
