Jean T.  DeSimone

1953 - 2017

   Jean T. (Finn) DeSimone, a longtime resident of Saugus, passed away at the age of 64, on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Jean was born in Malden in 1953, the daughter of William and Theresa Finn. She was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1971. She then studied nursing at the Youville Hospital School of Nursing, and then at the Somerville Hospital School of Nursing. After completing her nursing degree, she went on to work at the Woburn Nursing Center, eventually becoming a supervisor. It was there she spent her final weeks, being cared for by her co-workers and family.

   Jean had married her high school sweetheart, Dennis DeSimone, in 1971. They first settled down in Malden where they began raising their family, 20 years ago they had relocated to Saugus where they have lived since. Jean and Dennis shared 46 years of marriage together. Jean enjoyed traveling, especially her yearly trip to Aruba, she also loved tending to her garden, and was a phenomenal cook.

   She is survived by her husband, Dennis R. DeSimone, her children, Christopher M. DeSimone and fiancé Nancy Sousa of Malden, and her daughter-in-law, Jesika Madio of Salem, Tammy J. Owirka of Boston. Her brothers, Martin Finn and his wife Rachael of Reading and William Finn and his wife Darlene of Saugus, her sister, Maureen Finn of Saugus, her brother-in-law Edward DeSimone and his wife Cathy and her sister-in-laws, Carol Finn & JoAnne DeSimone both of Malden. She is the cherished  grandmother of, Anthony, Gerard, Christopher, Angelo, Casey, Nathaniel, and Jamie, and her loving daughter-in-law, Jesika Madio of Salem.

She was predeceased by her brother Kevin Finn and brother in-law Robert DeSimone.

   Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden, on Wednesday, September 6th, at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Josephs Church, 770 Salem St, Malden, at 10:00 AM.

Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 5th, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
