Rose Marie Cravines

September 14, 1927- February 16, 2018


   Rose M. (Voles) Cravines, of Malden passed away at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere, on February 16, 2018, she was 90. Born in Cambridge, MA on September 14, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Anthony & Amelia (Manfra) Voles.

   Rose was the devoted wife of the late Theodore Cravines and loving mother of Linda Johnson and her late husband Robert of Nashua, NH, Lois Haskell and her late husband Thomas of Waltham and Ted Cravines and his wife Sandy of Saugus. Loving sister of Benjamin Voles of Tewksbury and the late Joseph Voles. Cherished grandmother of Christine McGroder, Laura Amaral, Sandra Forester and Kelly Sheehan & seven great-grandchildren and nine nieces & nephews.

   Rose worked as a secretary at MIT in Cambridge before getting married and starting a family. She was a very loving mother who provided a happy life for her children. While raising her family in Cambridge she worked at various jobs throughout the years including Dunkin Donuts and Fanny Farmers. She enjoyed happy times with many neighborhood friends on Middlesex Street where they lived for 33 years before moving to Malden where she lived until 2017.

   Rose loved spending time with her family which often lead to rousing late night card games or endless rounds of Pokeno. The holiday season was special to her and her family as it always meant “Ma’s” famous meatballs and the best- ever Italian cookies! She enjoyed playing Bingo, scratch tickets and trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City throughout the years with her family & friends.

   A prayer service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Friday morning, February 23, 2018 at 10AM. Interment to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours in the funeral home on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 4-8 PM
