David A. Costa


David A. Costa  along time resident of  Malden  & General Electric Worker, in  Lynn passed away on Sunday morning, April 23, 2017 in the Melrose Wakefield Hospital, after a long illness, he was 75. Born in Cambridge, MA the son of the late Angelo & Eleanor G. (Mooney) Costa.  David was raised in Somerville, educated in the Somerville school system & St. Joseph’s of Somerville.   

   After his schooling David worked for a few years and later joined the U.S. Army in February of 1962. He was later discharged in February of 1965 at the Rank of Private First Class.  David later took employment with General Electric Corporation of Lynn, MA. He worked many years as a welder and management positions until his retirement.

   David was a long time member of  Mensa International, a society of high IQ people. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He enjoyed his time off with family vacationing in New Hampshire and Maine. He enjoyed his time with his best buddy and cherished grandson David Baldwin. They were true best friends.

   David married the love of his life Lorraine A. Wilson on October 30, 1972, in Lynnfield   and the couple spent the next 45 years together.  The couple started a family and would later welcome their daughter,   Lori into the family.

   David is survived by his wife Lorraine A. (Wilson) Costa. He was the devoted father of  Lori A. Costa of Malden. Loving brother of Carol Barrasso and her husband Ed of Wilmington.  Cherished grandfather of  David  Baldwin of Malden.

He was predeceased by his brothers Charles & William Costa both   formerly of Somerville. 

   Funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden,   on Wednesday,  April 26,  2017  at  8:30 AM,  followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate  Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St.,  Malden   at 10 AM.

Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  

Visiting hours will be from 8:30AM- 9:30AM prior to the funeral mass  in the funeral home.

   In lieu of flowers contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Autism Society of America, Mass Chapter,  47 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA  02481.
