Raffaela "Philly" Carozza

 

     Raffaela “Philly” (Santino) Carozza, a longtime resident of Malden, of Kissimmee, FL passed away in the Consulate Heath Care Center in Kissimmee, Florida, she was 105 years old. Philly was born in Boston on September 18, 1911, the daughter of the late Alfonce & Marie (DiChicco) Santino.

     Philly in her early years would meet and later marry the love of her life Vincent Carozza. They couple settled in Malden. Philly was long time communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Malden. She was a member of the YMCA in Malden and AARP for many years. She also was a member of the VFW Post #639 in Malden and was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America. She was known as a great cook and loved to knit and travel.

Raffaela was also survived by many nieces & nephews, great- nieces and great nephews and godchildren.

     Philly was predeceased by her beloved husband Vincent Carozza. Philly was the loving sister of the late Michael Santino, Francis Santino & Ann Lowden.

     Philly’s funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Thursday, December 22. 2016 at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St, Malden at 10AM.

     Her interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4-7 PM.
