Cosmo N. "Moe" Capomaccio

May 5, 1939- April 12, 2018

Cosmo N. “Moe” Capomaccio, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 12, 2018 at the age of 78. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Frances (Winn) Capomaccio whom he met at Fran’s Diner in the summer of 1959. Born in Somerville on May 5, 1939, Cosmo was the youngest child of the late John Capomaccio and Philomena “Minnie” (Vaudo) Capomaccio.

Cosmo worked as a Produce Manager at First National and Purity Supreme supermarkets for which he received many accolades for his outstanding produce displays. He was an avid sports fan and shared his love of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins and NE Patriots with his family. He coached Little League, enjoyed Lifetime movies, and was an exceptional whistler. Cosmo loved to dance and got a kick out of winning a dance contest doing the Twist. As a betting man, Cosmo also enjoyed horseracing, not only for the thrill of a wager, but also for his love of watching the speed and beauty of a running horse. He had a passion for weather and would manually track blizzards, hurricanes and nor’easters on paper charts. Cosmo was happiest at a ball field watching one of his grandchildren's games. Not a day was complete unless it ended with something sweet- a piece of Italian pastry or chocolate candy- and always with a glass of chocolate milk.

A kind-hearted man with a fun-loving spirit, Cosmo will be missed dearly by his wife, Frances (Winn); his children, Carol Capomaccio and partner Barb Wood of Portland, ME; David Capomaccio and wife Theresa of Methuen, MA; Steven Capomaccio and wife Margaret of Milton, GA; Nancy (Capomaccio) Ruth and husband Robert of Delmar, NY; and Mark Capomaccio and wife Nicole of DePere, WI; his grandchildren, Vincent, Michael, Anthony, Miranda, Leah, Erika, Benjamin, Chloe, Caden, Ella and Hudson; his brother, John Capomaccio and wife Angie; sister Ann Garrett; aunt, Jennie Gallinaro; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Winn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy and Josephine.

The family wishes to acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the support and loving care received from Hospice Services of Massachusetts, who compassionately made Cosmo’s final days peaceful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Services of Massachusetts 391 Broadway St Everett, MA 02149.

Funeral will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 10AM.

Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 4-8 PM.
