 George E. Burridge

1939 - 2018

 

 

 

George Edward Burridge, a retired Staff Sargent for the US Army, passed away in Melrose on Saturday, March 24th, after a lengthy illness.  George was born in Revere in 1939, the son of Vincent and Marguerite Burridge.  He grew up in Revere and after graduating from Revere High School, he enlisted in the US Army.  He served for over 20 years, in Vietnam, Indochina, and Germany, and was awarded many medals including the Vietnam Service Medal with 7 Bronze Stars.  He was also considered and expert marksman with both the Browning Automatic Rifle and the M-16.   Upon his discharge he returned to the Boston area, settling down in Malden, where he resided until around 15 years ago when he moved to Melrose.

George has been the loving companion of Mabel “Mae”  Casey. They shared over 38 years together.  They enjoyed vacationing in Maine together, as well as trips to Foxwoods with family and friends.  George was a member of the VFW of Winthrop, and the Elks Lodge of Saugus. 

He is survived by his children, Michael, Erika, George Jr, Peter, Marguerite, Mark, John and Christopher, his sister Diane Brown and her husband John, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the extended Casey Family.

George was recently preceded in death by his long time companion, Mae Casey, as well as his siblings, Vincent, Lois, Richard, Joyce, David, Donald, and Barbara

Funeral service will be held in the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Wednesday,  March 28th,  2018 at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours Wednesday morning,  from 10AM-12.  Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody

In lieu of flowers contributions in Georges’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA  01701
