Joseph C. Bono


Joseph C. Bono, a longtime resident of Malden passed away on Friday, November 5TH, after a brief illness. Joe was born in Boston in 1939, the son of Anthony and Lucia Bono. He was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett Vocational High School with the class of 1957. He went on to Wentworth University where he studied Engineering. He then served our country in the National Guard for 6 years. Joe began employment with New England Telephone as a Toll Testman and worked his way through the ranks , retiring after 40 years.

In 1962, Joseph married his sweetheart, Sheila M. Boyle, and the two settled down to raise their family. They shared nearly 60 years of marriage together. Joe enjoyed gardening, painting and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed spending time with the family dogs, Molly who recently passed away, and Jacoby.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila M. (Boyle) his children, Lisa (Dave) Connolly of S. Boston, Christine Bono of Melrose, Michele (Kris) Bruno of FL, Joseph A. Bono of Malden, and Christopher Bono of Melrose, his grandchildren, Jake, Nikohlas, Gianni, Natalia, and Jillian and his sister Marie Marchese of Everett.

In addition to his parents Anthony and Lucia Bono, Joseph was predeceased by siblings Vincent Bono, Anna Zollo and Anthony Bono.

Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem Street, Malden, on Thursday, November 11th, at 11 AM. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 10th, from 4 – 7 PM
