N. “Frank” Blomerth of Medford passed away Sunday evening April
9, 2017 , with his loving family at his side, he was 91. Frank
was born in Malden on May 17, 1925 one of eight children of Carl
V. & Marcella A. (Riggs) Blomerth.
Frank was educated in the Malden school system. When he was old
enough he joined the US Army in June of 1943. He saw action in
Rhineland, Germany. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory
Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon
and the American Theater Campaign Ribbon. He was later discharged
in March of 1946 as a Private First Class.
“I came out of the service and got a postcard in the mail,” Frank
recalled.” It said I could go to watch making school. So I went.”
Frank learned to fix watches and grandfather clocks, and repair
jewelry at the New England Watch School, formerly on Newbury St.
in Boston. He took employment with the Wadland's Jewelry Store
Frank started working for the Wadland’s son, Philip, in 1952. The
following year Trudy married the young watchmaker in 1953 and the
couple moved to Medford and raised four children. They were
married for 63 years.
Frank & Trudy later bought the store in the 1970’s. The couple
worked together for many years. They later cut back on the hours
that the store was opened instead of retiring. They later closed
the store for good, in December of 2004, but continued to do
work out of their home in Medford.
Frank loved his family and also enjoyed going out in his big canoe
on Fosters Pond. He loved to work on word puzzles and take long
nature walks along the Audubon with Trudy, in Ipswich and Plum
Island. They enjoyed bird watching and all of the great
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Trudy A. (Damon) Blomerth.
He was the devoted father of Lynne E. Mulhern and her longtime
companion Jeff Smith of VT, Scott C. Blomerth and his wife Robyn
of Revere, Janice L. Blomerth-Craigen and her husband Bob of
Malden and Leanna D. Fleming of NH. Frank was the cherished
grandfather of Sandra L. Napoli of Medford and Megan B. Lavoie
of FL, great-grandfather of Audrey, Andrew and Trevor Lavoie.

Irene Garfield, Dorothea Chellis, Carl, Edward and Sheldon,
Funeral services will be held from the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule
Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden, on Thursday, April 13, 2017
at 11AM. Interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park,
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday,
April 12, 2017 from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions in
