Mildred L. Blackmore
Mildred L. (Todd) Blackmore, a resident of
Nahant, passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the age of 85.
Mildred was born in Malden in 1936, the daughter of Clarence and
Lillian Todd.. She was raised in Malden, worked at Converse
Rubber in the 1950s, stopped working for a period of time to
raise her family, and in the 1970s she went to work for the
Malden School Department as a Matron. After retiring from the
city in 1988, she continued to work at PJ Hansbury Hardware
store in Hamilton, assisting a good friend until 2008. In 1961,
she married her sweetheart, Frank A. Blackmore in Maine. They
lived in Maine for a couple years before moving to California,
and then returned to Malden in 1967. They shared 25 years of
marriage until Franks passing in 1985. Mildred later moved to
Stoneham, before relocating to Nahant with her daughter a few
months ago. Mildred enjoyed traveling to Aruba, music & dancing,
knitting, and crocheting, making hats and blankets for family,
friends and donations to Crotched Mountain School. She was a
member of The Knitting Connection, as well as a member of the
Stoneham Senior Center.
She is survived by her children, Bobby Joe Strickland and wife
Christina of NH, Susan Malaab and husband Ghassan of Nahant, her
sister, Ruth Johnson of Utah, her grandchildren, Dyan, Bobby,
Amanda, Antoine, Andrew, Eric, Christopher, Nicholas, Corey, and
her great grandchildren, Max, Anthony, Stormi, Connor, Colton,
Hope, Aariyah and Anthony.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Frank A. Blackmore
Sr., her parents, Clarence and Lillian Todd, her son Frank A.
Blackmore JR, her sister, Thelma Cooper, her brothers William
Todd and Richard Butland, and her grandson, Frank A. Blackmore
III and companions Philip Hansbury and Charlie Papalia.
Funeral services will be held from the Weir- MacCuish Golden
Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Saturday, March 13th,
at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts
Church, Malden, at 10 AM. Interment to follow in Hamilton
Cemetery, Hamilton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home
on Friday, March 12th, from 4 – 8 PM.
