Lessie Baker

 

Lessie Baker, a retired substance abuse counselor for the Hope House in Boston, passed away on Sunday, December 12th, at his home. Lessie was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, one of 9 children of George and Hattie Baker. He completed his education and then attended trade school in Alabama. He then moved to the Boston area, and took employment with the John Hancock Insurance Company as a Print Press Operator. After working for John Hancock for many years, he left to become a Substance Abuse Counselor at the Hope House in Boston. Whether he was at work or off the clock, he dedicated his life to helping those, that needed help with substance abuse issues. He retired from the Hope House in 2019. His other passion was being a dedicated fan of all the Boston sports teams, whatever team was playing, he was watching.

He is survived by his children, Lester Baker, George C. Baker, and Nicole M. Baker, his 3 grandchildren, and his former wife, Frances Lewis.

All funeral services will be private.
