Barbara A.  Anderson

 

Barbara A. (Kelley) Anderson, a longtime resident of Malden, passed away on Tuesday, Oct 25th, in Peabody.  Barbara was born in Malden in 1926, the youngest of 7 children of Walter and Molly Kelley.  She grew up in Malden and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1944.   In 1947, she married her sweetheart, Robert W. Anderson in the Immaculate Conception Church in Malden, and the two settled down to raise their family.  The two shared nearly 15 years together until Robert’s untimely passing in 1961. 

Barbara began working at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea, MA in 1965.  She was the Assistant Treasurer there, and continued working until her retirement in 1988.  She also worked as a Poll Worker for many years for the City of Malden.  After her retirement, she spent much of her free time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, helping her children with their upbringing. 

She is survived by her children, Lillian Sears and husband Duane Burbank of ME, Judith Randall and husband Frank of Lynnfield, and Karen Anderson and husband James Chiavelli  of Malden, her grandchildren, Jay, Vicky, Alexis, Rachael, Emily, and Maggie, her great grandchildren,  Nicole, Justin, Jordan, Skyler, Mazie, and Lenigha, and her great- great-granddaughter, Lainey.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Anderson Sr, her son Robert W. Anderson Jr,  and her siblings, Mary Guaragna, Daniel Kelley, Rose Kelley, Walter Kelley Jr, Richard Kelley, and James Kelley.

Visitation will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St, Malden on Friday, Oct 28th, from 4-8 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM.  Barbara will be interred at a later date with her husband in the Veterans Section of St. Peters Cemetery, Danbury, CT. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara's memory to the Chelsea Jewish Foundation, 240 Lynnfield St. Peabody, MA 01906,  which cared for Barbara for the last several years.
